Today is the first day of a three day set of reveals by Valve. Today, the big announcement was SteamOS, a new Linux based operating system. SteamOS is designed for the living room and can be installed on living room machines. All of your Steam features carry over to SteamOS, including your games and friends. Two of the coolest features are in-home streaming and family sharing.
With in-home streaming, you can start up a game on your computer and stream the game to a TV with SteamOS installed.
For family sharing, family members can take turns playing the same game and earn separate achievements and have separate saves.rnrnThis is the first announcement to be made by Valve. Another is will be made Wednesday. Since Wednesday’s announcement is a circle, which was today’s symbol, in a box, many suspect this to be the long rumored SteamBox. Wednesday will tell.
